About

During most of my Ph.D., I worked on quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) under the guidance of Prof. Federico Capasso, focusing on mode-locking them. QCLs are among the brightest sources in the mid-infrared, where many molecules have their strongest absorption lines, making them especially attractive for sensing. As a postdoctoral fellow, I am also working with Prof. Kiyoul Yang on rare-earth-doped gain systems for integrated photonics.

My professional interests span fundamental photonics research and the development of technologies that can make an impact beyond the lab. I am especially interested in turning new ideas into practical systems for sensing, communications, and other real-world applications.

During graduate school, I was lucky enough to be awarded both the Department of Defense NDSEG Fellowship and the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship.
